Need a Divorce Lawyer?

Divorce is a highly personal matter. Because of this and other reasons, Cohen Law provides highly personalized attention to each and every client.

We understand that this may be a difficult time in your life, and we always keep this in mind when helping you through your divorce. We are here to help you resolve important issues and help you move forward with a favorable outcome.

At Cohen Law, we have over thirty years of combined experience protecting the rights of individuals going through a divorce. We arrive at favorable divorce settlement agreements through three different methods: negotiation, mediation and collaborative law.

If the lines of communication are still open with you and your spouse, you may be able to successfully negotiate your divorce. Negotiating your divorce allows you to discuss different settlement options and reach affable decisions, and you never have to meet in a courtroom.

The process of mediation is very similar to that of negotiation, except there is a certified mediator involved in the process. Each party has an attorney present to help them through this process, and everyone involved sits together to reach an agreement on a settlement. The mediation process can take as little as a few hours due to every party meeting together.

The mediator’s job throughout this process is to direct clients down the best path to reach a settlement. After all of the parties come to an agreement, they finalize the settlement in writing and it is final. Like negotiation, mediation can save both parties money due to minimized fees.

Collaborative law is an innovative way to come to a settlement agreement between two parties regarding divorce. Before the process begins, both parties sign an agreement not to go to court and have separate attorneys represent them throughout the process begins.

The main difference between collaborative law and negation and mediation is that collaborative law recognizes the emotional issues and addresses them while the other two processes do not. Specialists are brought in to the process to help you address any psychological pains that you may be experiencing. The rest of the process, however, is very similar to that of negotiation and mediation.
