Melanie D. Sigel was born and raised in South Florida. She earned her undergraduate degree with honors from Florida State University (B.A., 2013) and law degree from the University of Florida (J.D., 2016).

At Cohen Law, Melanie devotes her practice to business litigation, including business torts, contractual disputes, shareholder disagreements and construction litigation. She has successfully represented business leaders from across South Florida and beyond in both state and federal court. As the daughter of two South Florida business owners, Melanie takes pride in being a relentless advocate for her clients and using her innate sense of justice as fuel in doing so.

Prior to joining Cohen Law, Melanie interned at another prestigious civil litigation firm in Miami and completed two internships at the Florida Senate. As a law student, Melanie was a two-semester Certified Legal Intern for the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Clinic, where she represented survivors of domestic violence. Additionally, Melanie was on the Dean’s List and received a Book Award for earning the highest grade in Legal Drafting, among other awards for her writing skills. Melanie completed her law school tenure as a research assistant in the law school’s Center on Children and Families.
